I am thrilled to report that we have harvested and eaten a beautiful tomato from our very own plant. This is the first piece of usable produce I have grown in at least 15 years. I'm embarrassed to show you the mother plant. It does have two more tomatoes on it, but it's pretty pitiful. I planted it a little late, then moved it away from the house a bit, but made the mistake of planting sunflowers on either side of it which cast just enough shade to make a difference.
I think I'll give the location of any future plants a little more thought.
